fondamentali, Franco Baggiani é ancora un astro piuttosto giovane nel firmamento del jazz italiano
nell'accezione più vasta che si può dare a questo termine, ma analizzando quello che ci é dato di conoscere
della sua carriera crediamo che sia lecito supporre di trovarci di fronte ad una di queste svolte. Capita a
tutti di andare avanti a testa bassa percorrendo contemporaneamente più sentieri e approfondendo lo
studio di diversi linguaggi alla ricerca di quello che ci sembra più congeniale. Ad un certo punto si trova un
istante per fermarsi e guardarsi indietro, scoprendo come per la prima volta la strada che si é percorsa. In
questo preciso istante l'artista si riconosce nella strada che ha percorso e sente il bisogno di esprimere e
cristallizzare questa sensazione in un 'opera di arte. Questo é quanto successo a Franco Baggiani nella
tarda primavera del 1996. Con lo sitle eclettico che gli é da sempre congeniale, Baggiani si rifà prima di
tutto ai suoi modelli preferiti: Miles Davis e George Coleman e li fa incontrare e scontrare con linguaggi
duri e metropolitani intrisi di metal e funk. Con la sensibilità e l'intelligneza che gli hanno sempre permesso
di ottenere il meglio dai musicisti che hanno collaborato ai suoi progetti, ha messo insieme un quartetto
capace di esprimere al meglio questo suo messaggio. In questo album molto intenso non disdegna di citare
la banda di paese né la musica contemporanea da Berio a Zappa, ma più di tutti gli altri cita se stesso.

"As an analysis of this biography shows, the career of every artist is marked by some fundamental turning points. Franco Baggiani is still quite a young star in the Italian jazz firmament, in the widest sense of the term, but analysing what we know about his career, we believe it is right to suppose that this is one of these turning points. It happens to everybody to go along with their head down, simultaneously following several paths and making detailed studies of various languages in a search for the one believed to be most congenial. At a certain point, we find a moment to stop and look back, discovering the path we have taken as if for the first time. In this precise moment, the artist recognizes himself in the path he has taken and feels the need to express and crystallize this sensation in a work of art. This is what happened to Franco Baggiani in the late spring of 1996.
